(ME: IMD - news), a leader in the development of consumer digital imaging software, announces the appointment of Don Sutherland of Staten Island, New York as Vice-President, Editorial Content with responsibility for the creative and editorial content at the new PhotoChannel(tm) web site. The PhotoChannel(tm) site specializes in serving the needs of both conventional film and digital photographers by allowing users to search for and gather photography information online, digitize and store pictures or order reprints, enlargements, photo merchandise as well as camera equipment, accessories and supplies online. This appointment is subject to the regulatory approval of the Montreal Exchange.
Sutherland comes to PhotoChannel(tm) with over 30 years of journalism experience and has written extensively about photography, concentrating on leading-edge technology. His first article on digital photography appeared in Popular Photography magazine in 1976 and he has been a frequent contributor of articles on photography to Playboy magazine. Sutherland is currently a Contributing Editor and/or columnist for five monthly periodicals spanning the photography and digital imaging markets including Shutterbug, Photo Trade News and Digital Imaging Magazine. In 1995 he was the Founding Editor of MediaLink, a Spanish-language monthly published in Mexico City and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association for Multimedia International (AMI). Sutherland operated PRESS HERE! BBS, an on-line service for photographers, from 1988 to 1993.
