hi everybody,

i just bought some DIR. Not ERGP. Not AMTD. Not SCH.

Why!

i got informations about customer-base and daily order-volumes of internetbrokers. here it is:

TickerCustomers Incr.Q1/99 Mkt.Cap Mkt.Cap/Cust. Orders/day MC/Order

SCH 2.5M 49% 43.3B 17.300 138K 31.4
Wat.hous 0.6M 38% --- 58K
DIR 0.6M 43% 3.2B 5.333 19K 16.8
EGRP 0.9M 65% 9.7B 10.777 65K 14.5
AMTD 0.4M 60% 5.2B 12.500 41K 12.7

hopefully this is readable.

DIR is by far the cheapest, regarding the price/customer ratio, but they have far less orders per customer then the other online brokers.

is it different clients using DIR or is it perhabs because many customers of DLJ have just started an account and don't use it?

i have heard that DIR is seen as the best online-broker in the us by the press. is that true? any DIR customers?

and finally, how will DIR manage to grow as fast as ERGP and AMTD?
are they acting as agressive as these? or are they still seen as the subsidiary of an oldfashioned brokerhouse?

thanks for comments and information

i think there will be a trend, that will lead away from only looking for he cheapest broker, investors who are actively trading will look more and more for BEST service.

my bet is, that DIR is positioned in this area.
