Don't rely on sfe eps number. It is not from operations but mark to market for tlab. Every time tlabs goes up or down sfe earnings are following its move. At some point, I assume sfe will actually sell tlab since it is treated as an investment held for resale. When they sell tlab that source of income will disappear. If you are buying based on earnings, you need to closely review the financial statements to get a clear understanding.
I know many people on this board are comparing sfe to cmgi. I think that is a mistake. Internet Capital Group may be comparable but not sfe. In my opinion, Sfe is up because of the Internet Capital Group ipo and to a much lesser extent all of its other public an private holdings. Good luck to all but after the Internet Capital Group x date, it is my personal opinion that sfe will go back to trading closer to net asset value of public companies. If I am correct, what Internet Capital Group market capitalization will be is the key as to whether sfe goes up or down.
