Mediocre certainly is the word. Looking at the race now, it seems clear that some strategic errors were made. Baffert sent SBD out to steal the race, thinking none of the otherw would press her and, moreover, didn't want his little filly bumped around in the pack. Then, surprise of surprises, Antley shoots Charismatic alongside SBD instead of pacing him for the big run around the turn. The early fractions were too fast for that distance. Ah, hindsight. Sad, sad sight to see Charismatic hurt and something of a pall over what may have been a good natl TV audience. Meat for the anti-cruelty to animals crowd. Just one more addition to the list of Lucas' three-year-olds who never see a track at four. Best regards, Don, and keep well.
