<<I place an order, who will I see representing it on level 11?>>
I assume you mean a naz order, since there is no reason to look at LII for NYSE orders.
You may not see it at all, if your order crosses ISLD internally before it hits the LII. If it does hit LII, you will see it as an ISLD order (it's best to track it on the ISLD viewer and LII simultaneously).
<<How long to get a confirmation?>>
Usually instant, once executed. Sometimes there may be reporting problems at the MM level or more often with the specialist on NYSE issues. This is not much of a problem, other than often with cancelling an order - this can turn into a nightmare, where you will not get an answer for over an hour; calling Datek under these circumstances, does not always give you an answer. The cancellation confirmation problem is particularly bad on NYSE issues, but also seems to me connected with Datek's frequent "slow server" problems. A limited solution for naz issues is to try to track your order closely on the ISLD viewer - but this is not always feasible, or conclusive.
<<Is anyone using the daslinger software & are you pleased with the performance?>>
I am using it, and generally very pleased. There are some quirks which could be improved upon, but generally, it's very good. Be aware that there are several free wares, including one written by Jon Tara, who posts here.
<<I've seen a lot of comments about being unable to get a server the first 1/2 hr, is this still a problem? >>
Depends when you ask! Today was not a problem - a few days ago (look at the posts on this thread), it was a serious problem. Today actually I experienced some slow server problems in the middle of the day (and I'm on cable).
<<Can you keep the datek trading page open all day or does it time out?>>
You can keep it open all day, it does not time out - a great feature.
Hope this helps.
