Office 2000 debuts today, costs between $209 - $799
Microsoft Corp. unveils Office 2000 today in San Francisco.
The new version of its Office suite of applications, which
includes the programs Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is
designed to make it easy for users to create and display
documents on Web pages as well as on PCs. Office 2000,
which has suffered delays, is key to Microsoft's ongoing
growth. Its predecessor, Office 97, has an 89 percent market
share and accounts for about a third of Microsoft's $14.5
billion in annual revenues. Office 2000 costs between $209
and $799 depending on the version and is expected to be
available in retail stores Thursday.
