Hi Maurice, Thanks for the thoughtful and well reasoned reply. I guess having been building contractor for 25 years I have a "hardened" attitude toward the business world. I agree to a large extent with what you say about the American system. There is one feature to life here that I do find inane and destructive however. That is the tendency for people here to fail to assume responsibility for their own follies (my fling with I* comes to mind). And the attempts to place the blame wherever it is convenient. This "I'm a victim" mentality has clogged our court system for years and I'm sure you've read the stories of the huge payments for spilled coffee and injuries due to using a lawnmower as a hedgetrimmer. The title of a book I read a few years ago says it all: "The Death of Common Sense". I'm getting too OT, but let me end the lawyer discussion with this question. How many lawyers does it take to shingle a house? Depends on how thin you slice them...... Ciao, Ry
