El,
Here's another post about CPQ from PC Week's Rumor Column that appeared today:
"Le Chat and his minions are witnessing interesting times at Compaq. When John Rando resigned as head of the services group last month, Compaq sent out a full press release singing his praises, even though he'd been a Compaq employee for less than a year following the Digital acquisition. But when fellow senior exec John Rose--who spent nearly six years at Compaq--"resigned" last week, the PR folks buried the news at the bottom of a press release announcing other executive promotions. Of course, these were the same flacks who swore last month that Rose wasn't leaving.
Here's the latest rumor circulating about Eckhard Pfeiffer in an investor chat room: The ex-Compaq CEO is a candidate for the top job at Hewlett-Packard. "As long as we stop hearing about Ray Lane taking the job," purred the Puss, ever weary of the oft-repeated rumors of Oracle's president taking over for Lew Platt."
So El, it appears that one-half of the beloved 'bone-head twins' may be heading off to HP. If he performs there as well as he did the past 18 months at Compaq, this move might actually benefit CPQ in its channel wars with HP!
Hope all is well, hot as hell here in the Chicago area.
Regards,
