WASHINGTON, June 7 (Reuters) - High speed data communications services provider DSL.net Inc. said Monday it plans to raise a maximum of $115 million through the first-ever sale of its common stock to the public.

In an initial public offering filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New Haven, Conn.-based company said it applied to trade on Nasdaq under the stock symbol (Nasdaq:DSLN - news).

The company did not disclose the amount of stock to be offered nor the estimated initial selling price. The filing was made in a nominal amount and usually for the purpose of calculating a registration fee.

In practice, companies usually amend initial public offering statements later to include the specific amount of stock to be sold and at what price.

Net proceeds will be used to continue building its network and for working capital and other general corporate purposes. A portion may be used to acquire complementary businesses.

The offering will be made through Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown and facilitating the Internet distribution is DLJDIRECT Inc.

DSL.net provides high-speed data communications and Internet access services utilizing digital subscriber line technology to small and medium sized businesses.>>
