BancBoston Robertson Stephen kicked off the buoyant mood by reiterating a "strong buy" rating for shares of America Online (AOL: news, msgs).

the online giant.

"At a minimum, we believe this type of ruling helps AOL's cause in the event of negotiations with AT&T, which we believe will happen eventually," Benjamin said in a research note.

AOL shares were volatile, following gains of 10 percent Friday after the judge's ruling in a Portland, Ore., case. The shares surged to 120 1/2 in early trading but then fell back as AT&T vowed to fight the ruling. The online service ended the day down 3 1/2 to 114 1/2 on heavy volume of 22 million shares.
