Online firms such as Dallas-based Mydiscountbroker.com are signing up more than 15,000 new accounts each day, meaning nearly 50 percent of U.S. households could own stocks within the next five years through online brokerage firms. William, the PR estimates that the total number of online accounts being opened per day is 15,000, not just the accounts at MDB.
