The only indexes I routinely follow that I haven't seen you list yet are the CYC (cyclical) and the OSX (oil services).
As a broad indicator of underlying sector movement, the CYC is valuable.
The OSX is probably a little too specialized.
I have been using the method of using indexes to gauge where I'm likely to be able to trade most profitably since 1995. The nice thing about the indexes is that they are real-time on SI (the ones that they have, anyway). When the index shows strength or weakness with some technical predictability attached to it, I take a position in a stock in that sector. It's worked well for me. Welcome your thoughts and comments.
