Wooly--I'm a shareholder in Real Networks (only my Roth IRA, however), and also a customer. Unlike Slate, I've found that their product is almost impossible to use, although that could be because I'm a Mac devotee, and Real Networks doesn't appear to really give a damn about us (he writes bitterly). Their instructions are very confusing, and I've often wanted to throw my computer out the window after having tried (and failed) to make their Real Player work. Either I'm an idiot (entirely possible, unfortunately), or if they are our only competitor on the music end then we're home free...
Interestingly, the Maria Cantwell (Senior VP, Real Networks) cited in the previous post was a Democratic member of Congress who lost her seat in the debacle (from my perspective, anyway...) of 1994. Lucky for her, actually, as she then went on to become a zillionaire working for Real Networks. Funny how life works out sometimes... |
