I don't think Lee ever actually lived at Arlington House, it was really his father-in-law's abode. Lee was posted much of his adult life at Army depots, and he and his wife had another home they used down on the York when they lived in Virginia. It was an old Washington family home known as "the White House". I have Lee ancestors in the late 1700s, maybe I can pass my storytelling off as a genetic fault. I'm a victim.
