The Cleveland Browns first regular-season game will be telecast nationally by ESPN at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday, September 12 against the AFC Central Division rival Pittsburgh Steelers at 8:20 p.m. The Browns will face Central Division opponents in five of the first six regular-season games, including the first three games. Thirteen of the Browns' 16 games are slated for a 1:00 p.m. E.S.T. kickoff. The Browns will have a bye-week on Sunday, January 2, 2000, the final week of the NFL regular-season.

Highlights of the schedule include home dates against AFC Central Division opponents Cincinnati on Sunday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m.; Baltimore on Sunday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m.; Tennessee on Sunday, November 28 at 1:00 p.m.; and Jacksonville on Sunday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m.

The Browns will also host the AFC East's New England Patriots on Sunday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m.; the NFC West's Carolina Panthers on Sunday, November 21 at 1:00 p.m.; and the AFC East Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, December 26 at 1:00 p.m.

Road games against Central Division opponents will begin on Sunday, September 19 at Tennessee at 4:15 p.m.; at Baltimore on Sunday, September 26 at 1:00 p.m.; at Jacksonville on Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m.; at Pittsburgh on Sunday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m.; and at Cincinnati on Sunday, December 12 at 1:00 p.m. Additional road games include visits to the NFC West St. Louis Rams on Sunday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m., at New Orleans on Sunday, October 31 at 1:00 p.m.; and the AFC West San Diego Chargers on Sunday, December 5 at 4:15 p.m.
