Al;

The shorts are frustrated . They have cried the same party line for the past year and not one of their predictions have come true. For some reason they have built a very strong hatred for Tim Peters and John Reed and they can't see past that as a new industry is coming together. Their inability to recognize the fact that a steep price had to be payed[ warrents at 14.25$] to join the game points out their general lack of understanding of how the cable industry works. After months of asking about where the mso carriage agreements are, they fail to comprehend that the jv with TV Guide represents the mother of all possible carriage agreements!!! That is an astonishing fact. TV Guide recently signed a 10 year deal with ATT/TCI for digital services, that's 15 MILLION homes. They also already do business with all 25 top mso's who I'm sure will be interested in their digital products.
As well, they fail to understand the value of srcm's epg technology to TV Guide as TV Guide competes against Gemstar.

The longs on the other hand are anxious for the deal to happen but confident it will and treat any drop in stock price due to this perceived uncertainty as a buying opportunity. The cable show starts Sunday in Chicago and TV Guide is expected to unveil its newest suite of digital services. My guess is a new Interactive Program Guide, and localized content with advertising and e=commerce opportunities.

Can you say NEWCO?
