NEW YORK, June 8 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter said Tuesday that analyst Steve Volkmann cut Neff Corp NFF to neutral from strong buy, based on price and valuation.

-- "Neff shares have been strong performers recently, up about 150 percent year to date, and are now above Steve's price target of $15," it said.

-- "Neff shares are trading at 24 times his 1999 EPS, the highest P/E among the industry peer group."

-- Shares fell 1-1/4 to 14-1/2 on the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday morning.
