To deposit your STAY shares simply call your broker and ask for their specific procedures. Chances are they will simply give you a special address where you send the certificate (ask about need to endorse back of certificate) and they will deposit the shares to your brokerage account.

Regarding the IRA contribution, not sure but it is my understanding that you are NOT allowed to deposit certificates directly into an IRA --- the deposit must be cash. (Although I understand you can redeposit certificates IF you have withdrawn the same certificates in the past 60-90 days). Best to contact your own tax expert on this issue, although brokerage houses usually have someone with specialized IRA knowledge who could answer the question for you.
