FORE Systems, Microsoft Demonstrate Breakthrough Solutions For the New Public Network June 8, 1999 09:01 AM ATLANTA, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- FORE Systems, Inc. FORE , a leading global supplier for service providers building the new public network infrastructure, and Microsoft(R) MSFT are demonstrating FORE's comprehensive, carrier-class network solution portfolio, using Microsoft Windows NT(R) Server and featuring FORE's new ForeView Foundation(TM) network management solution. Solutions from FORE will be part of a fully functional model network showing a wide range of end-to-end services with a focus on customer self- service, in the Microsoft booth (#2041) at SUPERCOMM '99, June 8-10. This model network uses Microsoft's Active OSS (Operations Support Systems) Framework to demonstrate customer self-provisioning and configuration of telephony and data services for network service providers.
FORE (booth #8313) is providing key components for the Active OSS model network, including application traffic prioritization using a centralized Directory Service and multiGigabit firewall switching security. These solutions will be featured running on Microsoft Windows NT Server.

The SUPERCOMM '99 model network features FORE's ESX(TM)-2400 switch as the front end for hosted applications in the demonstration. The ESX-2400 provides FORE's unique Application Aware(TM) networking capabilities, which enable wire-speed application traffic prioritization and security, based on policies set and controlled through a centralized Directory Service that runs on Windows NT Server. This advanced service platform also utilizes FORE's groundbreaking Firewall Switching Agent, delivering multiGigabit line-rate TCP/IP firewalling with line-rate switching/routing and strong quality-of- service (QoS) guarantees.
ForeView Foundation Optimizes Service Provider Networks
At SUPERCOMM '99, FORE is also highlighting its new carrier-class ForeView Foundation network management solution that delivers industry-leading capabilities for fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security management of large service provider network. ForeView Foundation, which will be demonstrated running on a Windows NT Server platform, will enable service providers to offer next generation services such as advanced virtual private networks (VPNs), voice over IP (VoIP), application hosting, HDTV transport and other multiservice voice, video and data transport solutions.
