Convergence at the "HARDWARE" level. With hardware being the largest component of EMC's business, that's what they figure. Stop buying boxes for the desktop, AND for the IT glass house.
Look. Mike's either going to very right and blow all these analysts away with his perception of things, or these guys are right and their EMC's business will be effected, from either very slightly to substantial.
The good news, effected or not, is that it's temporary. Of course, I'd opt for a very slight earnings hit if there HAS to be one, and it could even be sloughed off with no impact on the stock
However, if this is being set up as "EMC's" view vs the "analysts view", and we're eventually found to be "fighting" as to who is right and who isn't, then they will really ding the stock if they are right and Mike's wrong. It's a power thing, and management "guidance".
Let's hope Mike's right.
