Only to trip yourself up in the next sentence where you
rightfully pointed to the fact that the Ottoman empire was a
paragon of tolerance ...

I was not tripping up, it is what I wanted to say.
...toward the other religions.
Actually I do not know the medieval Turks' attitude to
other religions, the only thing I know they gave a new living
place to the Sephardim.
But it was so because the Balkans were under Islam's rule!!

Exactly ! Finally you understand me.

And at that time, most of the Ottoman civil servants
(pashas, muftis, and grand viziers) were Albanian fellows!

I read the Serbian province had some autonomy and
some of the previous leaders were "enslaved" as
puppet keepers of this autonomy.
So, is there a connection with Orthodox Serbs?
I don't know, and don't care, it wasn't my point.

Oh no, that topic again:

Besides, regarding the European media, all I can tell you is that you should watch them more often.... Remember that here in Belgium we can pick up German, Italian, British, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Turkish, Moroccan, Portugese, and Greek channels --not to speak of CNN International and CNBC! So, how about this little exercise: turn your TV set on and tune in on CNN for say 10 minutes and then tune in on any other European channel and see the ''mismatch''....

Maybe I watch to crudely, but I could see a cultural
bias of Turkish channels as compared to CNN, BBC,
MSNBC, and the german stations. Somehow we
aren't in the middle ages anymore. The situation
seems to have changed.

Of course you don't need much founding to say
there is intolerance in Europe (and also in US, okay,
and also in nowadyas Turkey, and Algeria or do
you doubt that?), and there may be cultural bias
in Europe and US against Islam and other cultures
as well. So I concede although you didn't give me
better reasons than the silly TV-programme
idea of yours.

But please now tell me what is the effect of it with
regard to the Kosovo crisis? I made freely guessed
suggestions on what you might say in the previous
two postings, only to provoke something better than
the level backbeat you showed me. But you didn't
deliver. Please do so now, life is so short. Listen, I
promise not to be too critical about the
reasons, I'd just like to hear your concept.

Regards, MNI
