PB,

Re: "I will tell you there are, in significant amounts. I will also point out that Q2 isn't over yet for ~ a month.

Maybe what they are reffering to is the manufacturing aspects of the ramp Kash. Think about it."

Look I have no doubts that Intel has the capacity with 0.18 micron and is ready to go.

However if 400Mhz is all they can do - it would not surprise me to see the AMD mobile K6-III's exceed those numbers rapidly.

A lot of Intel investors have tremendous faith in Intel and its due to the fact that they have executed flawlessly. Because competition fumbled and bumbled so badly they have had room in their speed splits and manufacturing ramp to seamlessly intoduce newer and faster speed grades.

It is easy to appear flawless when you have all the bases covered and Intel did : superior pipelined design, superior process and superior manufacturing.

It seems to me that now the dynamics have changed.

Intel is now scrambling to get the Coppermine out. They are running risk silicon on camino. The rdrams are just yielding with unknown costs.

And AMD will have at least the same clock speed with higher performance/clock.

As far as when camino was due - my information was it was due at the time of PIII intro and there was going to be a 533 PIII with RDRAM and camino and it was cancelled and replaced by the PIII 550.

As far as 600Mhz laptop chips - well I may have been mistaken. Perhaps it was a by year end introduction - although I believe I had read a Q3 intro with high volumes in Q4.

I think its pretty obvious that the Intel design team has executed poorly this year IMHO. They are now betting that fab will save their skins coupled with AMDs penchant for shooting itself in the head.

Regards,

Kash.
