The only thing I have heard off the top of my head about Washington that would speak to anything remotely questionable was his well documented habit of traveling in a most luxurious horsedrawn carriage on the way to the outskirts of a particular city, then exiting the carriage just outside of town, and mounting his impressive white steed on the last leg in, to the adulation of the populace. I understand he actually despised riding the horse, but it did wonders for his image.
