We spend $5 billion per year on operating systems. Whereas NT costs $1500, Red Hat Linux costs a paltry $70. If Linux someday ruled the roost, we would save $4.5 billion or more that we could spend on something else.

Of course, this doesn't say much for Red Hat profitability however. And Windows will never be open code, but Microsoft may be forced to auction their code to a couple of other companies sometime in the future, but that is anything but certain.
