DGM&S Telecom Becomes Ulticom, Inc.; New Name Signifies Company's Commitment to Ultimate Communications

Business Wire - June 08, 1999 09:20

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 1999--DGM&S Telecom, which for 25 years has provided telecommunications software and services, today announced that it has changed its name to Ulticom, Inc.

The company, with headquarters in Mount Laurel, New Jersey and offices throughout North America and Europe, supplies open, high performance, fault resilient software for Intelligent SS7 network and converged IP network services.

"Technology continually advances, while the business landscape constantly shifts. There is a growing need among network operators and equipment manufacturers to work with a partner who can offer more than just a technology component to meet their development needs," said Shawn Osborne, President and CEO of Ulticom, Inc. "Ulticom is reflective of our commitment to provide customers with network software solution components and the higher level of service it takes to compete in today's converged network environment."

The company has long been a leader and innovator in the development of telecom software. Founded in 1974 as Dale, Gesek, McWilliams and Sheridan, Inc., the company was one of the first independent suppliers of the international telephone protocol known as Signaling System Number 7 (SS7). SS7 made possible intelligent network applications such as call forwarding, local number portability, emergency 911 and caller ID. The company's SignalWare(R) products were the first to enable network equipment providers and network operators to rapidly develop and deploy these new and innovative services to their subscribers.

SignalWare provides many of the features that are crucial to the global connectivity of telephone network. On a daily basis, SignalWare interworks thousands of networks, connects millions of subscribers and processes billions of transactions. SignalWare was the first product to offer fault resilient configurations, which allow telephone networks to operate without interruption. Last year, SignalWare's client/server feature was introduced, providing the flexibility to move telephone applications out of the domain of network operators, and into the world of the Internet, putting the customer in control. In 1999, Ulticom introduced Nexworx solutions components which provide the software elements necessary to build next generation, converged network services.

Ulticom, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT). For more information, visit ulticom.com.
