Eric, re analog to digital conversion; I'm not an expert either, but I have read that x2 only works if there is only one digital to analog conversion on the downstream path to your desktop. It's not really necessary to understand it, because it will either work or not; USR has a test that you can run once you get the modem installed. They will then tell you whether or not 56K will work from your present location. If it doesn't work, you're out of luck, short of physically moving and trying another location. -G- Scrapps posted something about the USR test recently. I'll look for it and add the link to it here.
