Actually, Tom, the Nazis justified genocide with an evolutionary rationale that was part of their racialist theory. If there is no soul and no god then all things are permitted. They were just culling the breed. Man, animals, Galt, same-same-same. Reason alone is value neutral. It can be logical to kill a rival, or the inconvenient, or the 'inferior'. Reason can't define good and evil as an absolute, ethical systems are external to the rules of logic.
Let's see. The French Revolution, made a god of Reason, built guillotines, and closed down the churches. Nazis, built a 'church of the German people' to replace christianity and built gas chambers.
