For Fidelity sector investing, they have had some very hot performing tech funds, like electronics, computers and software (internet play), and telecom which have done consistently well for several years. For value investing, there's the out of favor but coming back like sectors like chemicals, food and agriculture and energy. Hard to go wrong on chemicals with an upswing in prices.

Quite a few people seem to have acquired some of the Japan Small Companies fund hoping to do well in the long term recovery, but yes, howdy this has been one of my best performers as well and is very seldom mentioned in the press.

Fidelity has done very well in certain sectors if you pick them right. Gold might have a nice Y2K play to it but leveraged inflation plays like oil field services may do better at lower risk.
