Here is a quote from Irwin Jacobs, founder of Qualcomm, taken from a recent "Nightly Business Report" (PBS) show where Stepanie Woods is interviewing him.
"The computing power in a phone is just going up dramatically. I actually see the time when we, the phone we carry around will actually be our desktop computer or our laptop computer. That is, the phone will serve that purpose. It is continually connected, so it's downloading information, uploading information. It has a small screen. It has a small keyboard. And so you have a limited input and output, voice recognition will be used. But if you walk into a room where you have left behind or in a hotel room a larger display and keypad, drop your phone down, it will automatically hook up to whatever devices are there and you'll have that availability. You don't have to resynchronize because it has always been with you. So I think all kinds of new capabilities will be coming along."
I would love to see a future Qualcom phone that we can carry around with us with the power of a desk top computer. It would have a flash memory card that would store data, provide voice recognition software to minimize the need for a keyboard, have a liquid crystal display sufficient to capture text and graphics, and a CDMA modem with a little chip in it........EMBASSY....Hey Steven, please give Mr. Jacobs a call. WAVX belongs in this phone of the future.
