Has anyone run into a problem while restoring an image with DI

I have not encountered problems restoring drive image..I have a lot of images and have only restored a couple.

I have had trouble creating images. On some of my systems it gets about half way through and freezes up. When it works it is great..when it does not..watch'a gonna do?

I do not have a clue about error 29. It may be listed on their web site..or in their discussion groups (I usually have trouble on their site. My computer locks up in their discussion grouos so I rarely wander over)

Is the drive larger than 8.4 gig? I seem to have the most trouble with large drives.

Oh yea..now I remember, I did have trouble restoring an image. It was with my old Compaq..my first experience with Drive Image. My harddrive was showing signs of stress so I picked up Drive Image and made a couple of clones. Sure enough the drive failed. When I tried to restore she locked up. My guess was that the image I had created was an image of a bad drive and something-- crossed files or other threw a wrench in the works.

Now when I build a system I make a series of Images ...resulting in more restore options should something go awry.

I like Drive Image inspite of its short comings. I would not rely on it as the only recovery strategy. I keep *working* copies of the primary drive on a second harddrive in the same computer, I boot the second drive using the mobo bios.

One problem with Drive Image and the second bootable drive is they are rarely up to date. A file sync utility as researched by Clarence is the way to go IMO for up to date file back ups. We have yet to determine if we can use it to keep a clone up to date.

Keep us informed

Did you lose anything of value?
