Specifically, Darwin analyzes vast amounts of data on customer transaction and demographics. That helps companies profile and target customers more accurately, helps them keep customers, suggest other products a customer might like and also aids in detecting fraud.

From this description in the article, it would appear that Oracle's purchase of this company, and it's Darwin database mining system, will be at best only limited competition for the Nucleus Suite. Nucleus' real strength lies in it's ability to produce results from large data bases using ad hoc queries, and Darwin would appear to be limited to customer activity data base analysis. For this reason, as well as it's ability to interface with existing hardware & software environments, the NSA bought the Nucleus suite in preference to other solutions. As well, it is my understanding that many of the Fortune 500 companies are testing the Nucleus suite for their own purposes; expect to hear much more from them during this current Quarter.

BTW, 3rd quarter earnings are out next week. Usually, CEO Richey has a Conference Call upon their release and I anticipate substantial news at that time.
