Cuz - you guys are completely misreading this. This is the geographic restriction to the Nichimen license that applies to the locale of the OEM - the TV manufacturer --not where the sales of the TV's will be. As you know, a company like Sharp is headquartered in Japan but no doubt manufactures TV's in places like Mexico, Phillipines, Malaysia etc... These are sold all over the world. But Sharp does all its testing and licensing in Japan and they are a Japanese incorporated company, hence Nichimen helped TVL for this manufacturere.

Sharp's only interest is for the TV's going into the US at this point. Otherwise, they wouldn't even bother. THe statement you highlighted summarizes the general JV that Nichimen and TVL have struck between themselves. It excludes the US because there are no HQ's for any TV manufacturers here of any size whatsoever, Antec has the license to deploy with cable co's and other larger clients in US and TVL kept the licensing side to themselves for N.America. They knew more of the guys who may license it than Nichimen. None are TV manufacturers though, since they don't exist here.

That statement says nothing about Sharp's licensing area, where the TV's are made and where they will undoubtedly show up.

I beg to differ with you guys on this one.
