Mr. Richard Mockett reports
Infowave Software, Inc. has joined industry leaders such as Nortel Networks Corp., Lucent Technologies Inc. and Active Voice Corp. in developing and delivering solutions that support the Microsoft Corp. platform for unified messaging. Unified messaging provides knowledge workers with any-time, anywhere access via any phone or other device to a single inbox containing E-mail, voice mail, fax and page messages.
"We're pleased to be working with Infowave on their wireless communication products on the Exchange Server platform," said Dave Malcolm, group product manager for Exchange Server. "Accessing information around the clock and around the globe is critical for knowledge workers, and the combination of wireless access and unified messaging on exchange will make users more productive and companies more competitive."
With this initiative, Microsoft has put the spotlight on the momentum that Exchange Server is enjoying as the leading platform for unified messaging. As part of the Unified Messaging announcement, Microsoft is emphasizing its commitment to support its flourishing Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners including Infowave. The announcement also includes details about Microsoft Exchange "Platinum", the next-generation of Exchange Server which includes an interface called Exchange Server Wireless Services (EWS) designed to help developers who create wireless messaging solutions.
"Infowave will continue to advance the capabilities of its core products within Microsoft's Unified Messaging strategy," said Jim McIntosh, Infowave CEO. "We're excited about Exchange Platinum and its EWS interface and they'll be an important part of our next-generation of products. The architecture is highly scalable and the enhanced mobility support will allow us to take the Infowave family of products to the next level."
Infowave plans to ship a Platinum ready version of Infowave for Exchange shortly after Microsoft's Platinum launch. Infowave for Exchange provides companies with a secure and reliable way to wirelessly extend Microsoft Exchange to mobile staff. It's a seamless solution for mobile workers as it uses its regular E-mail address and the native Outlook or Pocket Outlook application to access its Microsoft Exchange server and message store.
Other Infowave products include: Infowave for the net which provides secure wireless access to corporate intranets and Project Kodiak which connects Microsoft Outlook to pagers and phones.
WARNING: The company relies on litigation protection for "forward-looking" statements.
