CD accounts are much more profitable because the banks are guaranteed a specific time to loan out the $ and thus have a smaller reserve requirement and can loan out more of it. They also don't have near the accounting duties that a checking account has.

Also, the pace of new accounts seems to have slowed down. After reaching a high of 9,000 new accounts during April, May only shows 6,000 new accounts. At this rate, it will take them until November to double again. That would mean a 400% increase in total accounts. <GGG loving it VBG>
