| THE ARCTIC GROUP ANNOUNCES NATIONAL BRAND-BUILDING INITIATIVE

 FOR RELEASE
 June 9, 1999

Winnipeg, Manitoba - The Arctic Group announced today that it will be
introducing a new brand of premium ice under the name "Arctic Glacier".
The brand will be marketed across Canada from Vancouver to Quebec through
Arctic Group's eight regional manufacturing facilities.

"This initiative represents the second phase in our consolidation of the
Canadian ice industry," said Robert Nagy, President and C.E.O. of the
Winnipeg-based Arctic Group. "Over the last 18 months we have created a
national distribution system. The introduction of Arctic Glacier will
raise the profile of packaged ice and enable Arctic to not only solidify
its share of the market, but will also provide a platform from which to
increase the size of the market as a whole. The introduction of Arctic
Glacier will facilitate the negotiation of national accounts."

The bottled water business has grown ten fold over the last 15 years,
however, the packaged ice industry has not followed this pattern in spite
of the fact that the product is of equal or superior quality. Arctic
Glacier will feature enhanced packaging, a common UPC code, and most
importantly, a program of marketing and advertising support. The roll out
of the national brand is the first in a series of initiatives which will
increase the profile of the product and enhance the awareness of packaged
 premium ice in the marketplace.

The Arctic Group Inc. is Canada's largest ice producer with production
and/or distribution facilities in Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa,
Mississauga, Chatham, Barrie, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Winnipeg, Regina,

segment of the U.S. market from operations in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas,
 Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.

As Canada's largest ice company, The Arctic Group Inc. is committed to
building an internationally recognized ice company by focusing on an
aggressive strategy of growth through acquisition and consolidation of the
 ice industry in North America.
