ATLANTA, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucent (NYSE: LU) last night received
SUPERQuest Awards in two categories in recognition of its outstanding
achievements in delivering breakthrough network technologies. The
presentation was made at a gala ceremony as part of the SUPERCOMM '99
Conference and Exhibition being held in Atlanta. The second annual SUPERQuest
Awards are sponsored by SUPERCOMM and CMP Media's tele.com and InternetWeek
publications.
Lucent's new PacketStar(TM) Access Concentrator 20 was recognized as the
most promising new technology introduced at SuperComm '99 in the Access
Technology category. The AC 20 is the industry's first ATM-based enterprise
multiservice access to deliver IP prioritization as well as the first
enterprise-class product to offer an AAL2 -based voice solution that expands
by eight times the call capacity of a normal T1/E1 line. The AC 20 provides
the most scaleble, flexible and cost-effective solution for carriers
delivering managed voice and data services over ATM to enterprise customers.
Lucent also won with its customer, WorldPort Communications, the
Best-Built Network of 1998 award in the IP Services category. Lucent provided
WorldPort its industry-leading PacketStar IP 6400 Switch, enabling WorldPort
to bring a new type of differentiated service network to carriers, ISPs, and
corporate users -- a network that offers transmission of premium data,
voice-over-IP (VoIP), fax-over-IP (FoIP), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and
other multimedia applications with guaranteed performance.
The SUPERQuest Awards recognize the implementations of public and private
network solutions, and the key product/technology involved in those solutions,
that have advanced business for the customer.
Organizations were recognized in 12 categories. The competition,
established last year, drew more than 120 entrants and was judged by a panel
of journalists and industry experts.
