Hi All -

One thing I've always wanted to know regarding any business-news program is which commentators/guests pay for their air time. I remember one occasion when a familiar face ran into trouble with the law and, subsequently, an anchor described him as someone who paid to be on the show (I forget the wording he used) when reporting on the matter.

I would really like to know how to distinguish people who pay a fee for their air time and people who are paid to comment. The difference matters when placing someone's remarks in context.
