Oh neat! Do you think they were writing about DAllas?
Deep Ellum is the area around Elm St. close to downtown. It was the old warehouse district and now is full of clubs and art galleries and lofts for the brave. (Dallas is NOT a living downtown kind of city, though it's trying to get better). I would guess that Ellum is a distortion of Elm. Originally it was (Civil War years) black..and gave birth to a lot of the great blues singers.

If you're a band, it's THE place to play. Stevie Ray Vaughan started there.
