Vendit, It's not just the telecoms which at this time, under these market conditions make for "safe buy calls". The hardware makers, BRCM/CNTX/CSCO/PMCS etc. are going gangbusters. I'm not posting this to this thread to promote these stocks, merely to point out to some who may not be aware of the massive buildout going on in the telco arena.
If you think about it, when AOL was clipped for not announcing their "broadband strategy", is it reasonable to assume that what was really going on was that Case & Co. were necassarily waiting till telcos were making the committment to build the infrastructure upon which their "broadband stategy" would be employed? It is up to the telcos to upgrade their systems. I believe it has become a matter of life and death for them because T has made clear it's intentions of competing head to head for the ONLY PRODUCT the sell, local telephone service. I think that the telcos have gotten the message.
