Here's a very good report by Lindsey Hilsum, in New Statesman magazine:
newstatesman.co.uk

Besides, regarding the Russians, I was watching TF1 (France's 1st TV channel) yesterday evening and there was a report in the 8:00PM news about the French troops in Macedonia and elsewhere in ex-Yugoslavia. The French military personel --both field officer (a general if I remember) and soldiers-- were asked how they'd feel about working hand in hand with Russian troops.... As you might imagine, they're all enthusiastic about such a prospect: ''We've excellent relations with our Russian buddies!'' and the like. Then the French journalist went on interviewing a couple of Russian soldiers --same tune. A Russian officer reminded the journalist that Russians and French were already used to collaborate in full-scale wargames. Well, as I said, the French are pushing hard their Russian Trojan Horse....

Regards,
Gustave.
