From Yahoo - CSFB Analyst - Increasing estimate

C-Cube Microsystems (CUBE-$20-Cap $0.8B-BUY)
Charlie Glavin, (415) 836-7715

CUBE Reports $0.32 in 1Q99; Raising Estimates for 1999 and 2000
FY99E: $1.27 (from $1.24); FY00E: $1.45 (from $1.40)

* CUBE reported earnings of $0.32/share for 1Q99, one penny above our estimate and consensus. Rev of $96.5M was up 11% over last year and essentially flat sequentially.

* Product introductions from 4Q98, such as the AViA@tv set-top box architecture, reaped benefits in 1Q99, as the communications segment announced multiple design wins and product rollouts throughout the quarter which we believe will hit the top line in 2H99.
* Flat GMargin of 54.5% was a surprise due to a stronger silicon segment & the ramp of DiviCom. We are now forecasting higher GMargin, leading to oper'g upside thru 2000.

* Due to positive gross margin outlook, we are increasing our est's for 1999 to $1.27 and for 2000 to $1.45. We maintain our BUY rating and $33 price target, (23x 2000 EPS).
