bemore, Ellison never made any comments regarding, "upcoming earnings." He said something like Oracle will be a hot company during/after the upcoming earnings, "announcement." Something like that. I took his statement to mean he was going to stand up on the soapbox and claim, "Microsoft is dead. Oracle's Internet platform(8i plans) is going to kill it, etc, etc. etc...."
