Exercising the leaps and taking the stock will add the cost of the leaps to the strike price and count as your cost basis in the stock. I'm no CPA (thank goodness) but you won't create a capital gain. If and when you sell the stock, I think your purchase date will be the day you exercise the options and acquire the stock, not the day you buy the leaps. I think.

By the way, good pick. UIS isn't a glamour stock but Larry W is a cool guy. Worthy of the investment.
