Re: DSL and Home Networking?

Bernard & Thread,
In doing a little research on chip makers involved with DSL technology, I think it's getting to be too strange of a coincidence that I keep stumbling upon the DSL equipment companies that make home networking products.

For instance, Diamond Multimedia makes the 1-Meg DSL modem for Nortel and DIMD makes a home networking product. AMD makes chips for DSL modems and also makes a home networking product. And I know there are two others that also are involved in DSL chips and home networking but I can't remember who they are.

Frank I believe it is you who has brought up home networking products a few times on this thread. I couldn't quite figure out why it was of interest to you. But now that I'm FINALLY putting two and two together, a home network is a twisted copper pair network that operates at around 1 meg speeds. So it's probably DSL technology based, right?
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)

PS I was so curious about Home Networking I went and bought the Intel version to check it out. Installation went POORLY. Just like the front page (B section) WSJ Walt Mossberg article said it would.
