One analyst's opinion:

multexinvestor.com

Network Associates, long a leader in network interface and protection, seemed golden only a few months ago with a steady growth record and seemingly untouchable competitive position. It has lost two-thirds of its value due to alleged manipulation of stock value by top management and slow moving inventories. But what really has changed? Isn't this still a dominant player in the industry?

Joel Achramowicz: Network Associates actually works peripherally in the directory space for a number of reasons which I won't review here. But the Company is a world-leader in security, network management and privacy software, most particular on Microsoft NT platforms. And yes, despite the channel difficulties which would cause the Company to post significantly reduced revenues sequentially this quarter, I like the stock and do believe that they would continue to be a dominant force in the security software area.
