May I offer my dumb opinion here? All this may pertain to new homes, particularly new homes in the future. But now the average person, like myself, will take what they can get: cable or DSL. I'm taking cable right now, because that is all that is offered in my area and because of the previous post regarding speed. That is it. Since they are offering free installation and a free modem for 6 months, what do I have to lose? If it doesn't work, I can switch to the phone company. We choose based on our pocketbooks, most people will do so. Thank you for not flaming me. Carolyn
