Veiko, Globalstar has nearly 10x Iridium capacity for a similar capital cost [actually less cost, even including the Zenit prang]. Globalstar thinks about 6 million subscribers after about 5 years, though this figure is a wild guess because it depends on how many fixed phone boxes there are in Chinese towns and elsewhere. These shared facilities will boost minutes used, per subscriber, by a long way as they will run continually, 12 hours a day. Iridium subscribers are not using many minutes at all per month. I don't know how many they use but at the last quarter report, the revenue was pitiful [for the 8000 voice customers and couple of thousand paging customers]. With Globalstar's sheep p-----g, there will be 200 minutes per month, but Globalstar hasn't yet said they'll be boosting sales with sheep minutes. Meanwhile, the sheep in New Zealand are very annoyed at the moment because the USA is thinking of charging them for going to the USA. Bill Clinton has been unsure on the sheep tariffs but will be deciding soon! Maurice [Forget about Iridium - it's now of academic interest only. ICO is the worry because they might go ahead and launch their system despite the obvious lack of support by their shareholders and lack of markets as shown [to some extent] by Iridium. Please excuse my cheap sheep jokes.]
