I'm sure Tellium has a better chance at IPO over Corvis.
Extant Communications has entered into a multi-year $250 Million agreement with Tellium to deploy Tellium's Aurora series of optical cross connects throughout the Extant network beginning later this year.
From the press release:
"Extant will always use leading edge thinking to bring better service options to our customers"
"The reasons we chose to work with Tellium are very basic, they know a lot about optical networking and they are the only company that has a product we can actually see and test"

And from an earlier press release:
Tellium has delivered the latest multiwavelength optical network switching technology available to construct an optical ring network serving three sites in the Washington, D.C. area including the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) as well as DARPA. Tellium won the $2.5 million award, in competition with major suppliers, under the program called Multiwavelength Optical Networking Technology (MONET). MONET was established to define and demonstrate how best to achieve multiwavelength optical networking on a national scale that serves both commercial and government applications.

The Tellium booth was packed all thru Supercomm 99. They were showing WORKING Aurora 32's and a WORKING Aurora 512 "Super Switch".

Cisco also has a stake in Tellium.
