You are talking apples and oranges. Intel is leading the charge to reduced process feature sizes, which is what you're talking about. Intel got to .35 first, or close to it on a large scale, on 200mm Si. However, MOT, IBM, et al, were ahead of Intel in going to 200mm Si. Gee, maybe the equipment vendors had time to hone their wares before Intel got to 200mm?
