No, its not just you!

When I purchased my latest system I decided to take the NT route and I'm certainly glad I did, not at first but once I got the hang of it I certainly appreciate the stability.

I am by no means a NT guru by any stretch of the imagination but would like to share some things I found out about NT through my own experiences.

First of all NT is not a plug and play operating system as was/is Win95 and Win98. The installation disks provide minimal choices for peripherials I guess you could describe their choices as generic.

I had to re-install NT a number of times from the original system configuration that came when I purchased it. Now I must state here that I had to go through this process because I screwed up not the OS.

I found the only way to set up each component correctly is by using the manufactures original drivers or installation disks for the various components after you have successfully installed the basic NT operating system.

Further more I found just because your sound card, video monitor, modem etc worked with Win95/98 doesn't mean it will operate correctly under NT. It appears most of these components require specific NT drivers to run properly.

Luckily my system came with all the necessary drivers/installation packages seperately should I need them in the future.

Should a person require a specific NT driver for their components I found that all popular manufactures will have them on their websites available for download.

Anyway's thats my 2 cents worth, hope you can get your system up and going, I'm sure you will realize the benifit once you do.

If I can help in any capacity just let me know, but I'm sure there is a lot more informative people out there than me.
